Sweet 16

My daughter wanted a card for a friend who was going to be 16, she asked me for something special and in blue. This is what I came up with, my daoughter loved it so hope her friends does too. I started off with an 8x8 card, I then started to make my matts. Firstly I chose some pale blue card and layered it with paper  from one of my Nitwit collections as always leaving a small border. I then used two contrasting papers from the same collection to create smaller matts, layering onto the same blue card used for the large layer. It is hard to see in this picture but I did ink the edges of all the layers with distress ink. Once I had placed the two smaller matts onto the larger one I then made a decorative border using one of Martha Stewart's punches, this was then layered onto blue card. I added ribbon to my border before mounting it onto the other layers then placed the whole thing onto my base card. The image used is a digi image sorry don't rememebr where I got it, I coloured using spectrum noir pens. To make the flowers I used a two Marriane dies and before removing from the die I inked them with the same distress inks I used on the edges of the card. I then stamped out the numbers from my Dimension stamps onto one of the papers used in one of the matts. To finish I added the flowers, a bow and a few gems. This card is my sample for MTTC Milestone Birthday blog challenge

Potted plant

Morning all, it is wet and miserable here today hope the weather is better where you are. My card today is an A5 base card and to start with I printed two backing sheets from the Nitwit collection Petal fresh. The first sheet I trimmed to size leaving a small border, before putting it on my base card I inked the edges with forest pine distress ink. With the piece of green backing paper left I cut into two and again inked the edges before placing onto my card. I then used one of my dies with the other backing paper and inked the edges with frayed burlap distress ink. I stamped my sentiment onto the same paper as my die shape and then after inking the edges I placed it onto my die shape before placing it onto my card. The flower pot I stamped is one from Jane Shasky range I coloured this with spectrum noirs, still not very good at colouring but I enjoy it and hopefully will get better with lots more practise. I then trimmed by image leaving a small border and used foam pades to add it to my card. To finish I stamped and coloured the little flowers from the set and added a few gems.

Little boy blue

I was asked by a neighbour to make two cards, 1 for her daughter who had just had a baby boy and the other was to give to her grandson so he didn't feel left out. As I wasn't very busy I set to work, my first card is an 8x8 and started off with a mirror board matt to which I added some gingham paper leaving a small border. I then made another matt and layered it with stripe paper again leaving a border, I turned down one corner  and placed a small piece of ribbon in the top left corner of the small matt before adding a nested shape. I then stamped my image from the new swalk range and coloured with spectrum noirs. I then cut the image with a smaller nested shape and layered it onto the first. To finish I added a sentiment, bow and some gems.

My second card was a 6x6 and as I usually do I made a matt and layered it with some patterened paper with a small border left. I stamped my image which was also from the swalk range and after colouring it  and rounding the corners I placed it onto a blue matt. I made a small matt and also layered it with the same patterned paper used on the main card. I then layered all onto my base card and added the sentiment and rosette to finish.

Butterflies

I am all for recycling so with this card already used for a sample for one of my own blog challenges it is just the thing for Ruby's rainbow challenge. My base card is an A5 and to started by placing a papermania  paper from my crafty stash onto my base card leaving a small border. I then took a small piece of black card and layered it with a slightly smaller piece of white, which I had put through the cuttlebug using an embossing folder. After stamping my butterfly image onto white card this was then added to a slightly larger piece of black card. i then layered both my matts onto my base card. To finish I used corners, card candy and gems to embellish.

Two's company challenge

My challenge this month is sponsored by Crafters companion, but there is a bonus. The winner will not only win a £10 voucher but will be able to choose to spend it on either Crafters companion or Beaders companion website. So I thought for this challenge it would be great to use either Crafters companion or Beaders companion products or even combine the two but not essential. There is no specific theme for this challenge so anything goes. You can do a card, scrapbook page or jewellery, the sky is the limit.
I have made some samples to give you an idea,
hope they inspire you enough to join in the fun x

I have been asked a few times about how people can enter the challenge without a blog, so I tried out the possibilty of posting from an album on my facebook page. I tried this myself and as far as I can see it works, if you would like to use this way or know of any other way to enter then please let me know. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on joining in with the fun x

New challenge

Hi everyone, my new challenge starts tomorrow sponsored by Crafters companion. There will be an exciting little twist to this challenge so please watch this space.

Blue Christmas

This is my sample card for MTTC blog challenge. The set theme is Christmas in August, I like more traditional colour when it comes to Christmas so thought blue was a good starting point. On my A5 base card I randomly stamped snowflakes. My first layer was then a smaller piece of decorative paper to which I added script stamped image. After inking the edges of a frame and adding little stamped stars to decorate I then placed it over the script using foam pads to give more dimension. My top layer is also a stamp, I stamped this in blue to contrast with the decorative paper, I then layered it onto mirror board and cut around leaving a small border. To finish I added card candy and a sentiment.

Golf bag

This was made as a special order for a friend. When I first looked at this template it was a little too small so spent some time resizing it. I added the numbers etc to the clubs as well as an insert to help the clubs stand up. To finish I added extra clubs, flags and border peel offs to embellish the bag and the box. I must say I am really pleased with the results.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog all comments are appreciated x

Julie

My card for today was made using a 6x6 base card. I used 2 Nitwit backing papers, for the first paper I layered it onto some lilac card leaving a small border. Next I used the 2nd paper and also layered it onto lilac card to create a smaller matt. I then stamped my image, Julie from Jayne Nestorenko's stamp collection Patchwork Polly. After colouring my image I used a spellbinders die to cut and emboss then before removing the die I inked around Julie with a distress ink, I also used the die to create a faux shape to layer onto. I created a border using a Marieanne die and thread ribbbon through before placing it onto the small matt. To finish I added some flowers and a sentiment to embellish x

Little girl

I recceived my Morehead collection yesterday and just had to have a play. I started off with two backing papers from the cd and matted one onto a contrasting card, then did the same with the other paper a little smaller. I placed these two matts together then added ribbon, I then layered onto 6x6 base card. After stamping out my image I coloured then used a circle die and matching scallop die and layered together. To finish I cut two corners from a die and added those and gems.

Something different

I have had a craft robo since they first came out, at first I used it all the time. Then along came my cricut and cuttlebug so the robo was made redundant. I have recenty re-discovered how great it is after I was asked if I had anything I could make that was 3d. I have a few files to use on my robo but the things I was asked to make I didn't have so I searched the internet until I found what I was looking for on treasured templates website. However the template was a little small for what I wanted so after trying to resize it and failing ( I really need to learn more on how to ) I  asked a friend to help. So with a great template a little help from a friend and a little time and patience from myself I am really pleased with the end result.
I have entered this into Ruby's Rainbow challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by x
