Fantasy

This is the card I have made for MTTC challenge, fantasy was the theme this time and I didn't really know what to do. My daughter who will be 23 this month loves fairies and the colour purple, I killed two birds with one stone so to speak.
This card is simply matts and layers, I used a die for the shape where I stamped the fairy and the sentiment. I used a distress ink to go around the edges of the shapes and also on the patterened paper. The first layer I used a punch to give the bottom a decorative edge. I made a smaller matt with a contrasting paper placed all the layers together then tied ribbon around it before placing it on the base card which is 8x8. To finish I added a few gems.

Especially for you

This card took me a little while to make but I really enjoyed making it. I got the idea here, it is such a lovely design of card and I will be saving it for my mum's birhtday in October. I used my patchwork polly stamps designed by Jayne Nestorenko. To start I made the folded part as per instructions on the link, I then used the triangle stamps images in the patchwork polly range which fit just perfect in the smaller sections. The larger triangles and the band on the front off the card are made as per instructions. I used co-ordinating papers from my crafty stash and coloured Olivia to tone in with my chosen papers. I then added the decorative piece of card in the centre to be able to add a verse. To finish I placed  blue paper onto on an 8x8 card trimmed it with peel-offs added card candy and a sentiment. I am entering this card into the challenge on Jayne's website.

Popcorn, just for you

I am entering this card into Ruby's Rainbow challenge. It is a very simple card as you can see I started with a 6x6 base card and I cut 2 matts in brown card and 2 layers in backing paper. The backing paper layers are slightly smaller than the brown matts. After placing both layers of paper onto the brown card I used peel-off corners and borders, something I haven't used in a long time. I then stamped out popcorn and coloured before placing him onto my card I then cut him out leaving a small border then used foam pads to raise him slightly from the card.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog,
any comments are much appreciated x

Embossed design

My base card is A5 and I started off with black I then cut a smaller piece of white card, and a smaller piece in pink and layered these two together. I then embossed a strip of white card with an embossing folder and used a die border to frame the strip. Once this was in place I thread pink and black ribbon through the border and fastened it at the back of the white layer, this was then placed onto my base card. I cut a corner to match the border and also used one of the larger dies from the same set, to finish I stamped a sentiment onto a circle and inked the edges before placing it onto my card.

Crafty trio

Today was a craft day with my two friends Kandis and Kathy, it was also our challenge day. I was to choose the papers and the layout, the image was our own choice. I started with a 5 x7 card and then placed my chosen backing paper leaving a small border. I then cut 2 small matts from a contrasting card and layered one with the same backing paper and put twine around the other. After placing the matts onto the base card I cut my die shapes and stamped out my image and sentiment. Once I had coloured the car I placed the shapes onto the card to finish. If you would like to see what Kandis did with the layout click here. Kathy's pic here

Polly

My friend Kandis and I set ourselves a little challenge where I picked the papers and layout and Kandis picked the image and die shapes, assuring we both had the particular stamp and die. As you can see Kandis picked Polly from Jayne Nestorenko patchwork polly range of stamps. The papers were from a Nitwit collection called Petal fresh, I chose two papers from this set. The dies are part of floral doily set from spellbinders. To start with I covered an 8 x8 card in one of the chosen papers, I then made three matts the same size and used the second paper to cover leaving a small border. I used a distressed ink to edge the three pieces then placed them onto the base card. After cutting and embossing the die shapes I used the same distress ink to highlight the embossing on the dies, these were then placed onto the card. Polly was next to be stamped and coloured before cutting her out and placing within the circle. To finish off I used some gems and card candi. Hope you like this card as much as I enjoyed making it.

Make it wet

This is my sample for My time to craft challenge. I started with an A5 card and placed patterned paper on after I inked the edges, leaving a small border. I then stamped my image and coloured with spectrum noir pens, following this I used a die to cut the shape and also inked the edges before removing the die. I then used the same shape in a larger size for the contrasting blue matt. I layered some pink spotty paper onto the same blue card used for the shaped matt and to finish I added a sentiment and some card candi.

Adorable Olivia

I was looking through my crafty stash, which I must say is a big stash when I
remembered about the adorable stamps. I purchased them when they were launched and just love them. I got to making my card using some papers I found while browsing and some contrasting card stock. To start with I placed some patterened paper on to card leaving a small border, I then used the same contrasting card and layered a different paper again leaving a small border. I placed this onto my first layered piece and placed ribbon around before layering it onto my base card. I used one of my dies to cut the frame and layered it onto white card, I then stamped out Olivia before colouring and cutting her out. I used foam pads to place Olivia onto the frame and placed it onto my card. To finish I added a couple of embossed corners, a bow, gems and card candi.

Beading delight

My daughter Holly has recently taken up jewellery making, so last night I had time out from card making and had a go too. My effort is the purple set and my daughter Holly made the blue necklace. Holly has only made little pieces of jewellery before in the way Sarah from beaders companion does. Last night Holly wanted to try a different way using 2 needles and thread and I hope you will agree her finished necklance is very elegant. I have entered this into beaded Jewellery challenges

For the guys

I found some scraps of paper the other day and didn't want to just throw them away so I put them to good use and made these 3 cards. I think I am on a roll with the male theme so I will probably do a few more before I get bored and want to do something else. The cards are just simple matting and layering with the use of stamped images and card candi, I hope you will agree that the cards are just right for that special ocassion for any man.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and thank you for looking x

Work, rest and play

I decided today I was going to make some very simple cards with papers I got free from magazines. I stared off with my images by colouring to tone in with the colours of the papers. I found some contrasting card in my stock and simply did some matting and layering. I used a couple of dies to vary the layouts a little and made some faux shapes by drawing round the shape I used to cut out. I finished off the cards with some twine and card candi.

You Rock

Two postings in the one day and a man's card, that is very good for me.
I decided I would enter this card into two blog challenges as it fits the requirements for both. I started off with an A5 card and added a slightly smaller piece of backing paper, I inked the edges slightly before placing it on the base card. I then found a contrasting striped backing papaer and layered it onto blue card leaving a border at the top and bottom before placing it onto the card. Using the same blue card a cut a square just big enough to take my stamped image which after stamping I cut with a cirlce die and placed onto the square. I then place the square piece of card onto some silver card again leaving a small border before putting it onto my card. I finished off with two sentiments and soem card candi.
Blogs chalenges I have entered this card into are Fab'n'Funky and Cards for Men

Friends

This card I made a while ago but thought it was very appropriate for this horrible wet weather we have been having. My base card was 6x6 and I started by matting some patterned paper onto a slightly larger blue square piece of card which was slightly smaller than my base card. I then took two pieces of the same blue pearl card the same size and on one piece I placed some contrasting patterned paper and on the other I placed white card after I had stamped the steps image. Next I placed the first matt onto my card, I then used one of my punches to create the border and placed ribbon onto it before placing it onto the card. I then placed the layer with the steps image onto the card before putting on the stamped image of the little girl which I  coloured and cut out and put foam pads on the back to raise slightly. To finish I added a few gems and a sentiment, hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Peek a boo

I got an email today with some very exciting news, I was asked to join the design team for My Time To Craft blog. I was so pleased I got started right away, here is my sample for the challenge

Raining cats and dogs

This card is 6x6, I placed two small pieces of patterened paper onto some black card and layered them onto my base card. I then stamped my image and coloured with spectrum noir pens and cut out leaving a small border. I used my circle and scalloped circle die and inked the edges of the circle slighty before layering together. To finish I added my stamped image, some ribbon and card candi.

Precious little one

I saw a card very similar to this on a website or blog a little while ago and I thought I would have a go myself. It is simply 2 squares in gold mirri card and 2 squares in patterned paper slightly smaller than the gold ones. I rounded off the corners before layering them together. On the smaller patterned paper square I folded the corner for added effect. I placed ribbon around the smaller set of squares before sticking to the card. I then used the stamp from the latest swalk range from crafters companion. I used one of my die shapes to cut and emboss then stamped the image before colouring. I then used pink card and used a larger die to cut and emboss. To finish I added a few gems and a little sentiment.
